The Sessions

Through games, exercises and exploration, children will develop communication skills and performance techniques, enhance their literacy, and develop their powers of self-expression.

Lessons are suitable from age 7 and can be taken solo or in pairs. Each session lasts for thirty minutes.

They take place on Saturdays in Goring on Thames. Students can choose between Verse & Prose, Public Speaking, and Acting.

The Syllabus

The LAMDA syllabus

Students will follow the syllabus from LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art), one of the world’s leading drama schools and a provider of examinations for people of all ages.

The exams give children a strong focus for all their hard work, and a lovely sense of achievement. However they do come with an additional cost and are not compulsory. I’m very happy for students to follow the syllabus but instead work towards a sharing of their work with friends and family if preferred.

Speaking Verse & Prose

These exams involve learning to perform poems and prose by heart, giving children the chance to connect with literature in an imaginative and playful way. Students will learn how to use their voice to ensure they are heard, how to hold an audience’s attention with vocal techniques, and develop their powers of interpretation and expression.

Speaking in Public

Students will learn how to craft and deliver speeches. These exams help children learn to communicate effectively, build presentation skills, understand structure, and also allow them to connect to their own interests and point of view of the world.

Acting

Acting exams are a great way for children to grow their imaginations, as well as their interpretive skills, by playing a character and entering pretend worlds. We’ll work on developing a range of performance skills - vocal and physical - that help children grow in confidence for performing both in and out of character.
